Monica a Sister who LOVES Hip hop spoke to a few Emcees in fact asking them just 1 question: How would you describe your RAP Style?
And here are some of the answers below
Axo Uphamene Nku Backyard.
Its English and Xhosa thats me in not all Spaza. I get influence from Eminem.
I
am a profound and pragmatic lyricist who pleads the cause of his
people. My music is intended to invoke emotions, trigger thoughts and
transfer the delicate issues of life.
Sinethemba Raptile Mgoduka
Its Boom rap funk.
Redondo Bukhulubakhe Nompetsheni
Its
social commentary on issues like violence, religion, peace, love etc. I keep it street
and flexible, base on true life stories especially where am from
(Ghetto). Though sometimes it comes in a form of fun and vibey. The most
important thing is the message because its there and it will always be
there (Relevant).
I write simple rhymes. I don't make them too complicated for listeners to interpret them, as much as I
love rhyming I make sure I write what makes Sense. I don't rhyme for the
sake of rhyming.
To be Honest with
you I'm still learning a lot to about myself, the music I've made and
what I'm currently in the process of making BUT I will say this.
When approaching a song/a verse I put more emphasis on the "content" and "flow" (rhythm and rhyme) and delivery.
At this point I don't have a specific name for what I do except for that its music and I call it Hip Hop/Rap.
One thing that influenced me though is the "flow" and delivery without that you wouldn't even know who I was.
Am
more of a double rhymer kinda rapper unlike most rappers I rhyme in
between sentence and at the end of the sentence whatever type of track I
do soulful or hardcore I use the same pattern of rhyming.
I
don't bound myself when it comes to rapping because I always try to go
beyond what already is. So I really can't put a finger on it
As a growing Hip-Hop artist, I like a more diverse Rap. I kind of rap about anything that I certainly know it will make the song nice and anybbody can manage to recite. But all in all, I enjoy rapping about myself.
ReplyDeleteMuch Respect Monica, you did a great job with this topic
ReplyDeleteit for the people by the people ... Hip Hop is a skill ... it art ... perfection is never an easy task ... 1 needs to understand his/her environment and most importantly "who you are, as an artist."
