Intro to BIG WEAZY "the Most hated producer"
He describes himself as the most hated
Producer, the guy you all love to hate some says he's got such a huge
Ego some says he must work on his attitude and he believes that he
doesn't have any attitude towards anyone but a strong belief to his
music capability. This is what he had to say.
Elitha:
Tell me a bit about Weazy, who is Weazy?
Big Weazy's Classics:
The name is Big Weazy's Classics, I'm a very talented music producer and songwriter born and raised in a small town called George... A humble guy who is very dedicated to his work.
Elitha:
What inspired you in becoming weazy? some prefer being called by their real names why not Thabo but big weazy?
Big Weazy's Classics:
I grew up listening to urban music (pop, RnB and crunk), back in the days I had long hair braided hair so with Lil' Weezy being the new kid on the rap scene people started calling me Weazy. I had to give myself an original identity but I ddnt wanna lose the "fame" I had of being known as Weezy so I just needed to remove 1 "e" and add "a", put the Big and make Classics... So I came up with Big Weazy's Classics
Elitha:
Your love for music when did you realize that you love hip hop and what made you choose to be a producer/beat maker rather than being an emcee?
Big Weazy's Classics:
I'm nt a hip hop producer but a music producer as I produce a whole variety of genres (Hip Hop, RnB, Hip Hop and Elektro Pop). I fell inlove with music in 2001 when Black Noise visited my school, I then became an MCee till 2008 when I was introduced to FL Studio, I was doing my 1st year in Varsity. I spent more time making beats and tjo I was wack back then, I had to choose between being on stage nd making beat... My strength was in making beats and writng rnb/pop songs so I gave up rapping nd concetrate on producing.
Elitha:
Interesting, your achievements so far?
Big Weazy's Classics:
At this point, a track I produced for Rivln Clique Ft. Jah The Desciple, Jay Llody and Big weaz's Classics jst received an award for Best Collaboration (Zabalaza festival awards), I contributed with few beats on Driemanskaap's 2nd album (on which they will feature Ntandon, Zakwe and Khuli Chana), I got a deal under C.I.A Music but I'm stll waiting for the contract first, I'm working on an album with the winner of the 2005 EMI/eTV pop star search Jayson Schaap aka Jay-Loyd.
Elitha:
So are you planning to stay in cape town and why did you choose to come this side why not joberg?
Weazy:
C.I.A Music is located in Joburg and Herschell so I'll be flying to Jozi in May. I chose Captown because I felt it would be a great place to start at, I mean Cape Town is full of gifted artists so I needed to pave my way here first then go bigger... I also thought I'll find a competitor *he laughs* but unfortunately not
Elitha:
The beat challenge between you and principles(the Creative Database's words n Beats) was it your first time battling? Are you going to do it again?
Weazy:
I initiated the Beat Battle, it is the first of its kind... I'll definately do it again, the aim to battle is nt for me to defeat an opponent but market my beats and it is working for me... The only reason I lost is coz Principles ddnt follow the rules nd he changed the plan few minutes I arrived in Baxter nd because I used a sample on the last beat but the dude is gud (much respect).
Elitha:
Who would you like to work with in the near future?
Weazy:
Anyone who is willing to pay me big money... Atleast I need to earn R15 000 a session , I dnt care abt fame... I want something that will bring food in the table
Elitha:
So where to from here I mean your future plans
Weazy:
C.I.A is for me to be established, otherwise my dream is to work for Sony Music or at least Universal Music, write songs and sell them to big names, resurrect the sell outs, get that money, work on my faith towards God, buy a mansion, get married, have kids, spoil my younger siblings, build my mom that R30 000 kitchen she always talks about, get my dad a brand new Audi A4, invest, push my boy V.I.G's music then die (he laughs)
Elitha:
Thank you very much we really appreciate you giving us some of your time keep on hustling never give up.
Weazy:
Pleasure and thank you for having me.
