Eastern Cape in Cape Town Hip Hop

You've been following Cape Town Hip Hop for some time now, most people get surprised when you say you base in Eastern Cape. You follow every move that is made from this side, you don't miss the news of Cape Town HipHop the battles, diss tracks, new rappers on the block, new tracks, the Headwarmaz show on Bush radio, even the upcoming events in Cape Town. Basically you're up to date with the movement on this side. As you look at the HipHop scene on this side what are your thoughts, from the artists, fans, even organisers, the Dj's and everyone around it? Do you think Cape Town HipHop is where it is suppose to be?

My thoughts on the Cape Town Hip Hop scene .I adore the fact that the population of Cape Town is drawn or should i say stolen into the genre. The supporters and fans embrace their artists. Hip Hop is growing at a fast rate in Cape Town so much that the South African public and media notice their movements, from sessions, shows and media at large. The quality most of Hip Hop artists produce in Cape Town is both impressive and exciting, equal measures. Production is great in most of them meaning they research and share information as far as the production side goes,so as to reach a standard in professional music as time goes.

I have heard numerous big tracks which i ponder should have gained national recognition but did not reach the required level,so its obvious hip hop artists need to focus more on their marketing strategies rather than only making good music.
As far as the dis tracks goes in the Cape i think 80% of them are lyrically childish, meaning they touch on sensitive issues which can break the artist who composed the same song. I love Hip Hop to the depth of it,deeper than pacific ,Indian or Atlantic ocean,so I urge Cape Town organisers and promoters to use Cape Hip Hop artists in their home ground and away in other provinces, and even bring artists outside the Cape so Hip Hop artists could collaborate and Know each other in their field. Otherwise my conclusion is Cape Town Hip Hop is up and ready to take South Africa by storm. Phambili ma soldier , over and out.

Cape Town Hip Hop has the best talented individuals and they are united most of the time, but they won't make it if they keep their nose on Headwarmes a lot, snitching on the page and arguing with their fans is not professional at all, they are loosing respect of their legacy. 2ndly they have proved to SA as whole that they can do their thing without going to JHB for Deals. They are able to market them selves enough like Driemanskap did to where it is now. They are going there too.

CPT HIP HOP DESERVES MORETHAN WAT IT HAS NOW.

You know cape town mceez first of all are not taking their craft seriously instead of working together they're fight each other, I think instead of dissing and swearing why not work together, there is no future for Cape Town HipHop.

No not at all,Cape town have talent but they need to understand that talent alone is nothing. Hard working and United people will put Cape town Hip hop where it suppose to be.

Cape town has a lot of platform for artists which is a great thing and ppl around seem to understand the world of hip hop, as for artist, u know there will always be those who think they're better than others and I've seen the same artists grow in the scene which is also something good, like from time when they started till nw they've grown.
Then you get those who are relaxed and then end up 'wack' than younger Mcee's and now more females are getting more involved something I like about Cape Town and the hiphop culture it is respected, that's awesome. The likes of Mel Jay, oNomakrestu and others,

I forgot their names, one just did a song with Pzho Nunstop. I must say I miss Beatoh on Cape vibes but his doing good where he is, hey even Raj has grown on his Dj skills.....people will always have something negative to say even about a good or bad thing.I have learned to take the positive out of people that's one of the things that makes it easy for me to deal with different people and their attitudes.

well, in my honest opinion about cape town hiphop is that I'm still observing the movement that side. brothers are hosting shows, showcasing their talent and that's how its supposed to be...Cape town hip-hop is alive..but i just think brothers are too comfortable,in a city that's filled with a 'lotta' talented rappers. you'd expect at least a proper break-thru to the music industry in S.A not just CPT, But unfortunately its not happening.
Its sad when a fellow rapper gets a buzz enough to fill his stomach but in a matter of months the buzz fades and then the guy becomes just another random rapper...and I think the problem is that amajita don't really take their music seriously.
they are too scared of competition...they all want to be friends with each other and that's not good for the movement...in order for you to know where u are in terms of moving forward or backwards u have to compete...that's not happening in Cape town.

Some producers are giving out free beats n studio time...rappers doing free features n free performances... There's no order if i may put it that way. Cape town artists need to find managers who will organise their rap lifespan and create brands out of them.. Cape town hiphop is not ready for the media because people involved in it are sensitive and take things personally and most of them are concerned about proving a point to others and not themselves. Brothers need to grow musically and stop being afraid of taking risks and chances with their music. they should research about the industry and try to find out what people out there want to hear. Talent is there but creativity is lacking because we hear the same things on most songs...rappers telling same sad stories. Hiphop is nt about being sad only... People should have fun when they go to studio.

I believe we all come from different parts of life and we go through different situations on a daily basis...we have different point of views, dreams n fantasies...why don't they share those with every1 else?! Unfortunately those who try to do that are considered 'wack'...which is sad...real sad. And 1 last thing...the headwarmaz group on facebook is poison...it aggravates the situation. I think only fans n supporters should gather n engage in most pointless arguements on that group...artists shouldn't interact that much on debates held there because the group has power to kill a rappers spirit, way of thinking and seeing things.its just a platform for bashing at each other...Managers(if thers any)should talk to their clients to stay away from that page unless they promoting something. If a rapper has a problem with another battles and dis tracks are welcomed in hiphop as they are a way of sharpening one's lyrical abilities/skills and determine whos sicker that the other. Amajita need to grow musically, compete with each other, find managers, quit freebees because no1 takes anything free seriously. Thank u.
