HES YOUNG AND TALENTED THE ONE AND ONLY KAYSWAG

He describes himself as a Humble and funny person who has the ability to stick to his plans and visions. He also says he is easy to get along with. Something I went on to discover as I interviewed him further. Kayswag is a 22 year old Rapper/Graphic and Fashion Designer. A Multi-talented being who began MCeeing from as early as 2005 even though it wasn't as serious as it is now. Like most Rappers, Khanya Fusi, whom at the time was still focus on studying, met a person known as CypherLyric who introduced him to a diverse range of hip hop activities like battling and the ever so interesting cyphers. In 2009 he moved to Cape Town from Bloemfontein, Recorded a Mixtape with his crew and the rest, as they say, was history.

SnR: Did the attending the cypers and battles inspire you to take hip hop more seriously?

KF: I had a low self esteem back then. I underestimated my abilities. As I grew older, I began to understand my abilities better. The Cyphers drove my passion

SnR: Would you advise young and upcoming MC's to attend more open mic sessions?

KF: That's a yes but again it depends, as for you however you get inspired along the way. You get to find your best way of performing, writing and weighing your content too.

SnR: I hear you, let's go back a bit to 09. Did moving to CPT change your style and how different is the Hip hop scene back in Bloem?

KF: *Laughs* I didn't change, but I took time to observe the way Hip Hop works here; in terms of content, language and production. I was only aware of Spaza when I came here. The difference between here and Bloem is that most rappers there do a lot of cyphers and here most rappers have access to studios.

SnR: *laughs* ok So in Bloem there's an apparent Scarcity problem. I suppose that has now been resolved as Hip Hop has evolved across the country with most MC's owning studios. Do you own as studio?would you define that as growth?

KF: Some how I wouldn't define it as growth in Hip hop, but it is a motivation coz er'time you have an idea, you just lay it down. I don't own a studio yet! But I'm part of SinFonia Sounds Record(won't expse position) haha! Judging from recognition SA hip hop gets from other countries, surely its growing and the quality nayo is growing. We still need to see more of that growth.

Khanya is also owning a clothing Brand which called Razor Act Wear and its be dominating in Cape Town the brand is doing well its also gonna merge with a Modeling company. Let's hear more about the brand

SnR: So Your Brand with Modeling Agency will be one business enterprise?

KF Yeah! It trades as trade as Razor Act Inc. But have few trademarks in it such as Razor Act Wear, Razor Act Music and Entertainment

SnR: Oh I suppose Razor Act Wear is the Brand you mentioned earlier like how did you come about with the clothing label because most people know you as an artist?

KF Well I had all this crazy Designs in mind and passion for fashion since High School so I just kept drawing and one day I did it digital then printed one T-shirt and after that I saw no reason to stop! But finding a name was quite difficult..... Lol but I saw myself cutting through all edges so I said its Razor Act (Ressurect).

SnR Wow that’s great, so like as you can see that Cape Town has lot of Clothing Brands that are trading in and out of Cape Town. What made you think that your brand will make a name 2?

KF First as an Artist I've been around for about 9 years with only 2 years spent in Cape Town! So my point is like we say "let the music talk" in fashion the Design, Style, Quality and Passion drives Uniqueness of any brand but for Razor Act I've Endorsed a lil sum some African Spirit that Defines unity, originality and sense of belonging.

SnR: That means you not only catering for Hip Hop movement? As you an artist judging from your comment. I see your target audience is wide did the African Spirit leads you the way for the Brand?

KF: Yes of course! I remember how many designs I've turned down while I was developing this Brand. And I've worked with an Angolan rapper; producer and Graphic Designer 'Ntinu' From our #BMP_PLMG Bantu Syndicate who really helped me develop the Main Concept of the brand! Even my Music Video was Shot by My Brother Sam G from Angola.

SnR: You only working with the above mentioned people? In Delft on one of the Clash Of The Titans events i saw TNT the dancing crew wearing Razor Art are they the Brand Ambassadors or they just bought the T-shirts like everyone else?

KF: There's a team working towards growing Razor Act Wear (Razor Act Inc). As for TNT Crew those boys got Talent and I saw a need to unify and dignify them as a crew! And yes they're my Dope brand Ambassadors

SnR: I suppose TNT is your only brand Ambassadors at the moment. Hey Kayswagg you a busy man I see so like how do you balance the two? Brand and Music? How do you make time for your music because they both demand lot of time?

KF: Well in terms of Brand Ambassadors I got TNT, Dj Candyman (under Razor Act Ent) and I am the Ambassador too 'laughs' Well Sister it isn’t easy but I have passion for both so after work I focus on music as I'm working on this project ‘Hard To Define’ which consist of 18 Tracks and on weekends I shift at least 50% of my attention to the brand but since there are phones and Emails I connect throughout the day with one on regard with the brand nor music. I doubt I have a private life though hahahaha. -- Regards Kayswagg Music SinfoniaSoundsRecords

SnR: Kayswag thank you so much for your time and all the best for your music and the clothing label
