My name is Unathi Mpotulo, but I go by Uneek. I’m a hardcore hip-hop emcee hailing from Cape Town. I started rapping at the age of 12 and I've been in the game since the early nineties. You’ll hear a lot of malevolence in my lyrics. I own half of a budding company called Da Insane Entertainment, which deals with music, clothing, graphics and events. I’m also steadily infiltrating the market with my street¬-wear label Skill Born. I am the other half of a hip-hop duo called Informal. Growing up I listened to Rza, Army of the Pharoahs, NWA and Dogg Pound Gangster. Now I am into Skeem Team, Tech Nine, and Snow Goons. I do hard, aggressive and lyrically on point music.

Sisters 'n Rap was also with Uneek in Bushradio 89.5 fm at the Headwarmaz Hip Hop  show where she told us the Bushradio listeners about the journey of Sprite competition and shes the only female who made it to the top 4 finalist of the competition among with more than 600 people who took part of the competition. Yeah Hip hop is male dominant genre but some or let me say most of Rappers the Male MCees started rapping after Uneek. Shes been too long in the game as she started rapping in the early 90s, i was so surprised to hear that because we only know Driemanskap, Rattex, Zanzolo etc who started back then. But as she said she's that bed room rapper who record at home. Uneek is that rapper when she see a mic and a DJ at the street she would ask if she can performed.   

Uneek started rapping as that rapper who used to bite other rappers lines and she would performed them at the jam sessions but now shes having her own rhymes and flows, she describe herself as that bed room rapper who just stand in front of the mirror and perform her style of rapping is unique just like her name.

Unathi aka Uneek is standing a chance of winning a trip that is worth R80 000 to New York and if she wins this competition she will also get a chance to record with Talib Kweli one of the dope rappers in New York.
