THEATRE4CHANGE THERAPEUTIC THEATRE - T3
Presents,
AMAZING WOMEN ARTS EVENT (AWAE)
Amazing Women Arts Event (AWAE) is an initiative that is made possible by positive energies from Theatre4Change Therapeutic Theatre - T3, Mandisi Sindo and Themba Mchunu. It plans to happen annually in Cape Town on the Women's Day. This year's 1st Amazing Women Arts Event (AWAE) will take place in Khayelitsha at Makukhanye Art Room at On the 9th of August, 2pm - 7pm. On the Women's Day. YES.
Amazing Women Arts Event (AWAE) has been a dream yet it seems that the dream is coming true. However, as we all know that this event won't happen without the presence/contribution of Artists, Audience Members and Theatre Practitioners. The love that has been given to Vuka Mandela Theatrical Magic by artists and audience has also pleased for this initiative. We need you.
To Artists: this initiative is STRICTLY FOR FEMALE DIRECTORS, WRITERS AND PERFORMERS (F/M), we call upon interested female upcoming directors, writers and performers who are coming from different working backgrounds to work together for the first time. Each piece of theatre must have 4 performers (Actors or actress) or less and a director (Female).
Research your story, create a piece of 15 - 25 Minutes and perform it after a few days of rehearsals. Prove your directing skills and learn more from others. It takes a teamwork and a participation to make a production to success and good looking. Therefore this is a platform of working as a collective in moving forward and achieving the goal which is a PIECE OF THE DAY.
Many have experienced a living example when female directors such as Ntsiki Maboza, Maninzi Kwatshube, Aphiwe Mpahleni made it possible and brought brilliant work on this year's 3rd Annual "Vuka Mandela Theatrical Magic" event.
Women can really change the world... and in women we believe.
Lets do the art, get together and enjoy OUR ART with music, poetry and theatre. I smell a great evening.
The event is open for any female directors, writers, poets and musicians who wants take part, it's an initiative that has no awards, remuneration, or any other financial benefit rather than experiencing doing a piece of theatre within a week, getting an opportunity to work with a director for the first time, skill in making a theatre piece under pressure, getting together with an audience which is mostly artists and practitioners. It is a platform for female directors, writers, poets, musicians and artists who does any kind of art.
This is our first ever event for women after a great success of workshops which were facilitated by theatre gurus such as Mandla Mbothwe, Owen Manamela, Ntombi Makhutshi, and Aphiwe Livi with 30 young artistic females of Cape Town.
Five Facts About Amazing Women Arts Event: -
- To uplift the standard of Young Black Female Directors in Cape Town
- To identify female directors who needs mentorship in directing and theatre making
- To help female artists to take charge, stand for themselves in the industry and be creative enough to success their works
- To reunite female artists in Cape Town who are engaged in the art of any kind such as Poetry, Music, Theatre and Art Administration
- To give females an opportunity to be creative, open minded and showcase their work in a large number of the audience.
My ideas as Mandisi Sindo who is doing these events is to see females doing art with out any male assistance in their creation process. I want them to be free to speak on their own with their own voice.
Together we move forward.
